Was Larry Sinclair arrested today? 2xUPDATED

Larry Sinclair, a fellow with a rap sheet as long as your arm, and toast of the anti-Obama blogosphere, went to a rented room at the National Press Club today to spread his smears.

Before, he went, he had a pretty good takedown by Politico
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/060 8/11164.html
and Greta on Fox told her readers that she wasn't going to help him get his BS heard http://gretawire.foxnews.com/2008/06/18/ here-is-why/#comment-1216701

Now there's an on-line report that Sinclair was arrested by the DC police. He has an outstanding warrant in Colorado on fraud charges. You can see what the Pueblo County sheriff's office's WANTED notice here: http://www.co.pueblo.co.us/cgi-bin/webpu rbroker.wsc/mostoff.html?name=135062

And the story of his arrest is by Dave Weigel who says

I attended Larry Sinclair's press conference today and was confused when he concluded by rushing out of the room, taking no more questions. The reason? He was arrested by the D.C. metropolitan police. I called the First District station where he was being held and confirmed that Lawrence Wayne Sinclair was charged as a fugitive from justice based on his outstanding Colorado warrant.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/6/18/ 185659/039/915/538089

Has anyone else seen anything about this?

Here's a report from Blogger News Network: http://www.bloggernews.net/116292 [UPDATE at 6:53: Sinclair was arrested by DC Police after 2 US Marshalls showed up and presented a warrant from the State of Delaware for Sinclair’s arrest. Montgomery Blair Sibley, who’s had his law license suspended by the District of Columbia and Florida, and who was previously Sinclair’s attorney, reviewed the warrant and then Sinclair was led away.

From StudentGuy: Folks over at http://themitchandnanshow.wordpress.com/ 2008/06/19/the-mitch-and-nan-show-et-al- have-larry-w-sinclair-arrested/ Say they got him arrested according to their reporter who attended the Presser. ************************************************************************** And now from Politico: "A footnote to the story of Larry Sinclair, the gadfly whose long criminal record I wrote about this morning: He was arrested by Washington, D.C. police after his press conference there today, two officials at D.C.'s First District station confirmed to Politico. Sinclair is wanted in Colorado on theft and forgery charges, but police officials I spoke to wouldn't discuss the charges. Reason's David Weigel first reported the arrest. Avi swung by Sinclair's press conference at the National Press Club today, an utterly strange scene whose highlight came from Sinclair's spokesman, Montgomery Blair Sibley, whose law license has been suspended, explained why he was wearing a kilt, explaining that it was more comfortable for "those of us on the other side of the genital spectrum." http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0608/Sinclair_arrested_and_other_notes_from_the_Press_Club.html

foils over at http://themitchandnanshow.wordpress.com/ 2008/06/19/the-mitch-and-nan-show-et-al- have-larry-w-sinclair-arrested/

Say they got him arrested according to their reporter who attended the Presser.

They also have done a run down of the presser on their blog and it shows that no MSM attended...

Guess who live blogged (with video!) the "press conference"?

SoCal!

From her blog:

Note: I will not attempt to track down and post every story I come across related to Larry Sinclair, but will try to provide important updates. Please leave a comment if you find any new information.

Hilarious.

Oh my sense of rightousness (2.00 / 1)

I still wish I had the original verison of the piece I posted about her.  I'd have it up in a heart beat now.

In fact I might write a take-down piece of her openly after this weekend...

Re: Was Larry Sinclair arrested today? (2.00 / 2)

ROFLMAO, this is priceless. You can't write comedy like this. Jon Stewart's writers must be green with envy. I knew this guy was a clown from the first time I saw his video, but this is just too much. Funny how the NPC offers a blog by Jeff Gannon (white house press room ringer, gay prostitute, Idiot) on it's website, and still claims "we just rented him space". The part about the kilt (and the reasons given for it; I wish some reporter had asked him to lift it, and prove his boast, it would have added just a little more surreality to the whole scene)
Who wants to bet me that McSame's team will try to bring this up in a "serious" way at some point between now and November? sure, it's a desperate move, but let's face it, they have a desperate campaign on their hands....

When Sinclair's lawyer is operating under a suspended license and is running around in a kilt because he claims his intimates are too large for pants...let's just say, I'm not surprised that Sinclair isn't currently receiving sound legal advice.

What a f-ing set of clowns.  And shame on the National Press Club for hosting these idiots.

Beautiful quote... (none / 0)

It is not often that a political reporter can claim to have witnessed the single most stupefying event on any single day, what with the diversity of inanity on display from coast to coast in an election year. But today, I feel confident laying claim to that dubious distinction, for I attended Larry Sinclair's Wednesday press conference at the National Press Club.

The National Press Club should be deeply ashamed for fluffing this guy.  For one thing ... arrested at their event?  For another ...  Does it seem to no one else that he is suffering from a mental illness?  It seems cruel that this was ever permitted to happen.

I actually met Wesley Willis after one of his shows, just a few months prior to his death.  I didn't let him head-butt me.  In retrospect, I rather wish I had.

Ugh. (2.00 / 4)

Color me unsurprised:

At the Press Club, Avi also ran into Will Bower, a sometimes-Huffington Post blogger who founded "Party Unity, My Ass" - a group for die-hard Clinton supporters that are now backing McCain - and was invited by the McCain campaign last weekend to meet with the presumptive Republican nominee, and called Sinclair's story "worth exploring."

"I don't think he should be written off without consideration," he said when asked about Sinclair. "I think its worth exploring."

It's possible that the National Press Club today was the single stupidest place on earth, depending on whether or not Doug Feith was speaking at the same time.

It does seem to me that if you had outstanding warrants and there was national publicity about it, you wouldn't let people know where and when you would be -- plus with a lawyer who was disbarred and wasn't wearing pants.
