As organizers of the Netroots Nation conference, we set a precedent this year by integrating the local Texas progressive community into the conference. Local Texroots bloggers and activists organized panels, conducted training workshops, and proved to the country that even in dark Republican times (see Delay, Tom) progressives can band together and kick ass. Texans like Congressman Lloyd Doggett reminded us what national leadership looks like.
Looking ahead to Pittsburgh next August, we have a real opportunity to ground the conference in the surrounding regional progressive communities from Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, New Jersey, New York, and beyond.
Which leaders should we engage? What are the issues? Where can we find the robust communities?
